Mahama must remove Auditor General immediately – ASEPA demands

The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to begin the process of removing Auditor General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu from office.

Speaking on the petition, ASEPA’s Executive Director, Mensah Thompson, stated, “We are calling on the President to invoke Article 187(13) of the Constitution to initiate proceedings for his removal.”

According to ASEPA, the Auditor General is guilty of “high crime, abuse of office, and constitutional violations.”

Their allegations include failing to comply with Supreme Court directives, unlawfully retaining public funds, and overstepping parliamentary authority.

The petition, filed on April 3, 2025, at Jubilee House, marks the beginning of what could be a major shake-up in Ghana’s Audit Service.
