Mahama swears in four new Deputy Ministers

President John Dramani Mahama has reinforced his administration with the swearing-in of four newly approved Deputy Ministers, following their parliamentary vetting and endorsement.

The appointees—Dorcas Affo-Toffey, James Gyakye Quayson, Mohammed Adam Sukparu, and Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah—are expected to contribute to key sectors including transport, foreign affairs, communications, and health.

At the ceremony, President Mahama charged them to uphold integrity and deliver results through close collaboration with their respective ministers.

Their appointments, he noted, come at a critical time as the government pushes forward with initiatives in infrastructure, healthcare, digital development, and international diplomacy.

Meanwhile, the president used the occasion to strongly denounce the recent assault on JoyNews journalist Carlos Calony, who was reportedly attacked by soldiers while covering a demolition exercise.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to press freedom and revealed that he had ordered a full investigation into the incident.

“Such conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” President Mahama said, pledging to engage security agencies and the Ghana Journalists Association to strengthen cooperation and protect journalists in the line of duty.
