Mahama swears in Naana Jane, IGP, others to Police Council – Calls for integrity and action

President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in a new Police Council, charging them with the responsibility of restoring trust, professionalism, and responsiveness in Ghana’s police service.
The brief but symbolic ceremony, held on Tuesday, saw Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Inspector General of Police, and other key stakeholders formally inducted into the crucial governance body.

Announcing the development on his official Facebook page, President Mahama emphasized the weight of the task ahead.
“On Tuesday, I had the honour of swearing in Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the Inspector General of Police, and other members of the Police Council.
”Describing the council’s role as pivotal, Mahama noted that national security and public confidence in law enforcement depend on the Council’s ability to steer the police force in the right direction.
“The work of the Police Council is fundamental to upholding law and order and ensuring the safety and security of our citizens.

“It requires commitment, integrity, and a deep understanding of the challenges facing our police service and the communities they serve,” he stated.
He concluded by wishing the newly inaugurated team success, expressing optimism that their combined expertise would help deliver a police force that is people-centered and justice-driven.
“I wish them well in this critical task and express my hope that their collective efforts will lead to a more efficient, professional, and responsive police service that serves the needs and protects the rights of all Ghanaians.”
