Mahama swears in Sophia Akuffo, 30 others as Council of State members

The President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has officially sworn in former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, former Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho, and 30 other prominent individuals as members of the Council of State.

The inauguration, held at the Jubilee House on February 18, 2025, underscores the Council’s pivotal role in advising the President on key national issues.

Doe Adjaho will serve as the Council’s Chairman, leading a team of experts from diverse fields, including law, academia, business, and civil society.

The event was attended by top government officials, diplomats, and stakeholders from various sectors.

The newly inducted members are expected to strengthen Ghana’s governance framework and contribute to policies that address the country’s pressing challenges.
