Mahama’s claim of Akufo-Addo criminally managing Ghana unfair considering the gold reserves we left—NPP MP

Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region, Kennedy Nyarko Osei, has explained that President John Dramani Mahama was not fair when he described the economy bequeathed to him by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government as criminally managed.

He cites Ghana’s gold reserves as of May 2023 under the previous administration as his basis of his criticism of the President of Ghana.

To him, the government must be fair in its description of the previous government because some feasible gains were made that need celebration rather than condemnation.

Kennedy Osei, who made this position known in a post shared via social media, said the current government could only add a paltry 2.46 tonnes after being in government for six months.

He said “If an Economy which was criminally mismanaged as described by Mr. Mahama was able to increase our Gold reserves from 8.78 tonnes in May, 2023 to 30.53 tonnes as at the end of December, 2024 and the Government that claims to have the magic wand to end all the sufferings of the Ghanaian people could only add 2.46 tonnes to our reserves after 6 months in office then I don’t think Mr. Mahama was fair in describing the previous administration with such phrase.

Is the Mahama/NDC administration telling Ghanaians that out of the 41.5 tonnes of Gold that was purchased by the GOLDBOD with the taxes of the Ghanaian people within the last 6 months only 2.46 tonnes were kept as a reserve to support our currency and economy? So Mr. Mahama/NDC Government are only interested in selling our Gold to the international community without reserving not even 10% of it?

Does it also mean that, the Mahama/NDC Government is heavily depending on the reserves that were built by the Akufo-Addo/NPP administration to protect our economy and currency?

VINDICATION IS IN THE WOMB OF TIME”.
