Major General Gbetanu tours Northern Region, vows to crush internal and external threats

The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, has reiterated the Ghana Armed Forces’ (GAF) readiness to confront any threat to national security, whether internal or external.
His assurance came during a working visit to the Northern Command Headquarters in Tamale, part of his ongoing nationwide familiarisation and operational tour.
Speaking in an interview during his visit, Major General Gbetanu noted that this marked his 10th regional stop since assuming office, a tour aimed at gaining firsthand insights into the operational, administrative, and logistical conditions of army units across the country.
“Since assuming office as Army Chief, I have embarked on a familiarisation and operational visit to all army units,” he stated.
“This is my 10th visit, and it is intended to help me assess their operational, administrative, and logistical situations.
“It also provides an opportunity to connect with troops deployed at the frontlines and motivate them to give their best in protecting our motherland, Ghana.”
The Army Chief emphasized the importance of staying connected with frontline troops and boosting their morale as they carry out their duties under often strenuous conditions.
He lauded the professionalism and discipline of the soldiers and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their service to the nation.
“The Ghana Armed Forces is fully prepared to contain any threat—whether external or internal.
“Troops are deployed across the country in strategic positions to respond to any threat that may confront us as a nation,” he added.
