Man in arrested for stealing EPA vehicle in Tarkwa

A man suspected of making off with a government-issued Toyota Land Cruiser has been arrested, bringing a swift response to what authorities describe as a bold theft in the Western Region.

The suspect, Salifu Gariba, was picked up by officers from the Northern Regional Police Command on 16 April 2025 at Kukobila, a town along the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway.

Police say the vehicle in question—a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GS 1845-23—had been reported stolen just a day earlier from Budo City, a residential area in Tarkwa.

The car, which belongs to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), was recovered during the arrest.

Police believe the vehicle was taken from the home of an EPA employee in the early hours of 15 April.

Gariba is currently in police custody while further investigations are underway. According to law enforcement officials, he will be processed for court once the necessary procedures are complete.
