Manhyia Palace bans funerals on August 21 for one week celebration of Asantehemaa

The Manhyia Palace has announced a ban on all funerals across Asanteman on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to allow the Asantehene and the people of Asanteman to observe the One Week Celebration of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

In a press release signed by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng, the Palace said the ban will be in effect for the entire day. It urged the public to take note and comply in honour of the solemn occasion.

The One Week Celebration will take place at Bogyaw, Manhyia Palace, from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m., led by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Palace emphasised that the suspension of funerals is necessary to ensure full participation and respect for the late Queen Mother’s memory, describing the day as one of unity and reflection for the Asante Kingdom.
