March 14, 2026 confirmed as Daddy Lumba’s funeral date – Lawyer Sets Record Straight

Legal counsel to Maame Akosua Serwaah, Lawyer William Kusi, has clarified that the funeral of highlife legend Daddy Lumba will take place on 14th March, 2026 and not 13th December 2025, as earlier reported.

Speaking to the media, Lawyer Kusi explained that the disagreement stemmed from a dispute within the late musician’s family over who has the authority to organise the funeral. According to him, it is not the abusuapanyin (family head) who conducts the funeral, but rather the children of the deceased. “If the abusuapanyin wanted to hold the funeral on 13th December, he would have had to do it without the family,” he said.

Lawyer Kusi also revealed that he initially sought an injunction to halt the funeral, but the court did not grant it. Instead, the court scheduled a two-week trial to ensure a formal decision could be made before the funeral date. He described this as a “consoling order” issued when the injunction request was refused.

Addressing rumours about an autopsy, the lawyer stated that the family is not aware of any post-mortem being conducted on Daddy Lumba’s body. “Even though some people claim an autopsy has been done, the sisters and family want to carry it out themselves, as they suspect foul play,” he added.

The clarification comes amid ongoing tension in the family regarding the arrangements and timing of the funeral, which has drawn significant public attention.
