Marriage without wisdom is chaos — Pastor Bisi
Pastor Bisi Adewale has said marriage far more complex than simply following divine instructions or falling in love.
On the Honest Bunch podcast monitored by MyNewsGh, he offered a deep dive into what really makes marriages thrive, or fail.
“The goal of marriage has never been just to make babies,” Pastor Bisi said.
“From the beginning, it was companionship. That’s why being apart for long periods, like one spouse in New York and the other in Lagos, is not marriage, it’s damage.”
He highlighted three pillars critical to a successful marriage: the Word of God, the Work of God, and the Wisdom of God.
“Even if God speaks to you about your spouse, your character, your knowledge of relationships, and your ability to apply wisdom determine whether that marriage will succeed,” he explained.
Pastor Bisi also discussed the evolving dynamics of marital roles. “Culture has changed. Women now work, come home late, and have responsibilities outside the home.
“If a man expects his wife to maintain the old ways, conflict is inevitable,” he noted. He urged couples to unlearn outdated practices and relearn how to navigate contemporary life together.
Finally, Pastor Bisi tackled interfaith and intercultural marriages. While theoretically possible, they require extra effort.
“If you marry across tribes or churches, you must fully embrace your spouse’s culture. If you resist, the marriage will struggle,” he warned.
