Maurice Ampaw drops bombshell on Sammy Gyamfi dollar drama

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has taken a swipe at businessman Ibrahim Mahama, accusing him of turning Sammy Gyamfi into what he described as a “spoilt child.”
According to the outspoken legal practitioner, the lavish lifestyle currently associated with the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board stems from a misguided pursuit of wealth, allegedly enabled by Mahama’s influence.
Speaking on Wontumi TV over the weekend, Ampaw didn’t hold back: “Ibrahim Mahama has been the reason Sammy has become a spoilt child.”
He claimed that the culture of opulence around Sammy Gyamfi, who also serves as NDC’s National Communications Officer, is a product of unchecked privilege and shadowy dealings.
Ampaw’s remarks come in the wake of a viral video that captured Sammy Gyamfi handing out crisp U.S. dollar notes to controversial spiritual figure, Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
The footage, which showed Gyamfi delivering what appeared to be bundles of fresh cash from his Range Rover Autobiography, has triggered public outrage and demands for accountability.
Critics, including opposition members and civil society voices, have called on President John Mahama to suspend or dismiss Gyamfi from his post. The act, they argue, damages public trust and raises serious questions about transparency and the source of Gyamfi’s wealth.
But Ampaw doubts the president will take any action. “President Mahama cannot deal with Sammy Gyamfi. There are things Ibrahim Mahama has done in the dark with Sammy,” he alleged, suggesting a protective shield around the embattled official.
While Nana Agradaa has since pledged to return the money, saying she doesn’t want to be part of tarnishing anyone’s career, the controversy remains a hot topic across political and media circles.
Calls for investigations by financial regulatory bodies continue to mount, as many question whether public office is being used as a front for unchecked affluence.
