May the lord give us strength – Nana Konadu on helicopter crash

Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two cabinet ministers and senior military personnel, on Wednesday, August 6.

She extended her condolences to the affected families, the government, and the people of Ghana, describing the incident as “a sad loss for the entire country and indeed the international community, many of whom may have interfaced with some of the departed,” In a statement shared online.

“I mourn with the families, government, and people of Ghana on the sad loss of lives in the tragic helicopter incident,” she said. “My sympathies go also to the officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces who have lost men who were on duty for God and country.”

Nana Konadu further prayed for strength for the bereaved and comfort for the nation. “May the Lord give us all strength and fortitude to mourn during this sorrowful time. I pray that the souls of the departed rest in eternal glory.”

The crash, which occurred in Brofoyeduru in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of key figures, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed. Investigations into the cause of the incident are currently ongoing.
