Media personality and podcaster David Germain Portfolio has taken to Facebook to shower praise on Ghanaian rapper Medikal, describing him as one of the few artistes who never forget those who help him secure show deals.
In a post sighted by MyNewsGh that has since attracted wide engagement, Portfolio wrote:
“If you are sitting in any board meeting as an artiste’s lobbyist, one of the few artistes who cares about you when you give him a show deal is MEDIKAL! Ask everyone who has linked MDK to a show and they tell you! That guy makes liaisons eat goo.”
His remarks underscore a longstanding conversation in Ghana’s entertainment industry about the often-thankless job of artist lobbying — the behind-the-scenes negotiation and networking that gets artistes onto big stages.
David Portfolio, who also led a grassroots campaign for King Paluta in the 2024 Artiste of the Year race, noted that Medikal’s loyalty and financial appreciation for showbiz intermediaries sets him apart.
“Many artistes take the deals and forget who made the call,” he remarked in a follow-up comment. “MDK is not like that.”
