Meet members of the seven-member Anti-Flood Taskforce

Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama in March inaugurated the Anti-Flood Taskforce to combat Ghana’s persistent flooding challenges.Â
The seven-member team is chaired by Mr Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations at the Presidency.
Other members include Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing; Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Abdul Osman Razak, National Security Coordinator; Mr Teddy Addi, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO); and Madam Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, Legal Counsel to the President and Secretary to the taskforce.
The task force has started its work; however, the floods in parts of Accra on May 18 have raised serious concerns about what the government is doing to prevent this annual occurrence.
To many, the lack of political will has been a major challenge in the fight against floods in the country, and until bold measures are taken, the country’s capital, especially, will continue to suffer perennial floods.
