Meet the Manyoro Chief who secured victory for Ga Mantse at the Supreme Court

Ghana’s Apex Court has affirmed King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II as the rightful Ga Matse.

In a ruling delivered on July 23, 2025, the Supreme Court quashed the Court of Appeal’s June 12, 2024, ruling that ordered the restoration of Nii Adama Latse II as the Ga Mantse.

The court’s ruling followed an application for Certiorari filed by lawyers of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, who challenged the Court of Appeal’s decision and same was opposed by the lawyers of Nii Adama Latse II.

The court, presided over by Justice Gabriel Pwamang, ruled that the Court of Appeal’s decision was made in violation of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II’s right to natural justice.

The Supreme Court set aside an earlier ruling by a High Court in the Ashanti Region, ruling and also avoids further legal battles.
