The Minority in Parliament has raised strong concerns over what they describe as an unfair distribution of road projects outlined in the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review.
In a press statement dated July 28, 2025, the Minority Caucus criticized the government’s “Big Push Programme” for sidelining key urban areas like Greater Accra and Ashanti, despite their economic importance.
“The list is heavily skewed toward certain regions while neglecting more populous and urbanized regions such as Greater Accra and Ashanti, which together account for over 35% of Ghana’s population,” the statement read.
“Yet these areas are noticeably absent from the core focus of this so-called push.”
They also called out the government for ignoring the worsening conditions on the Accra–Kumasi road and failing to mention ongoing contracts or the recently announced six-lane expressway for the corridor.
“To neglect these areas in national planning is to undermine economic efficiency and social mobility,” the Minority argued, adding that other crucial bypass projects in Osino, Nsawam, Enyeresi, and Konongo have also been left out.
The Caucus urged the government to adopt a more balanced and inclusive approach to infrastructure development.
