Minority leader warns gov’t against the use of state security to intimidate opponents

Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Marking has called on the government to stop using state machinery to intimidate their opponents.

His comments come on the back of the recent arrest of Okatakyie Afrifa after he wrote exams at GIMPA on March 19, 2025.

In a tweet, the minority leader indicated that what the government is doing is bad for the democracy the country is practising, and the earlier it comes to an end, the better.

He cited the invitation of Kwame Baffoe, known popularly as Abronye, as another instance where state security was used to intimidate opponents.

His tweet read, “It started with Abronye. Now it’s Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah. The NDC Government must be tolerant! Using State Security to intimidate opponents is not good for our democracy! Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah must be released now.”
