Mrs Akosua Serwah Fosuh is the only lawful widow

The family of the late highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly called Daddy Lumba, has firmly asserted that his widow, Mrs Akosua Serwah Fosuh, is the only legally recognized spouse with rights over his funeral and estate.
A statement issued on October 26, 2025, stressed that under both Ghanaian and German law, “the only recognized and lawful widow remains Mrs Akosua Serwah Fosuh.”
The family explained that no divorce decree was finalised prior to the musician’s passing, which means the marriage “remained legally valid,” thereby granting her authority over the burial and the estate.
They further cautioned that “any attempt by other individuals or family members to claim authority over the body or conduct funeral rites without the widow’s consent constitutes a violation of Ghanaian law (Cap 127) and internationally recognized spousal rights under German law.”
The family urged respect from the public and the media, emphasizing that the matter of legal widowhood is “clear, consistent, and self-explanatory.”
