National security investigates Jumah’s son for using state vehicle

The ongoing probe into alleged asset misappropriation by former GIHOC Distilleries Managing Director, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has taken a new twist, as sources reveal that one of the state-owned vehicles under investigation was reportedly being used by his son.
The revelation emerged after operatives from the national security apparatus stormed Mr. Jumah’s residence at dawn on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in a bid to retrieve official vehicles suspected to have been unlawfully retained after his tenure.
Mr. Jumah, who served under the Nana Akufo-Addo administration, was not home during the operation.
According to insiders familiar with the investigation, Mr. Jumah later instructed his private security detail to return the vehicles, allegedly acknowledging that one of them had been in the possession of his son.
The vehicle in question is part of a fleet of three under scrutiny by the state. One, a luxury Genesis G90 saloon car, was reportedly sold to Mr. Jumah at a heavily discounted rate of just 5% of its market value.
Two others, including an Audi valued at over $60,000, were allegedly retained without formal Board approval.
So far, one of the vehicles has been successfully recovered and returned to Accra.
The investigation, led by national security and supported by other state agencies, is focusing on the legality of the transactions and whether they breached public asset management regulations.
Authorities are also probing possible misconduct in the sale and retention of government property by former officials.
