Naa Torshie seeking to smear Bawumia’s image with outrageous propaganda

Akaneweo Kabiru Abdul, a Communicator of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed surprise at Irene Naa Torshie Addo over her unfounded criticism of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, describing her accusations against Dr Bawumia as outrageous propaganda and lies.
Irene Naa Torshie Addo, a supporter of Kennedy Agyapong in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race, recently chastised Dr Bawumia for failing to help secure funds for districts when she was the Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund(DACF) during the presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo. She went on to lash out at Dr Bawumia for failing to manage the economy as Vice President well, concluding that he is unfit to lead the NPP in the 2028 General Elections.
But in a sharp rebuttal, Akaneweo Kabiru Abdul completely demolished her arguments, wondering why she failed to approach her appointor at the time, President Akufo-Addo, and chose to approach Dr Bawumia when she faced difficulties, allegedly.
He stressed that rather than tell NPP delegates what her preferred candidate for the flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong, will do for the party to win the next general elections, she is engaging in outrageous lies targeted at Dr Bawumia.
“Irene Naa Toshie is at liberty to support her candidate, Kennedy Agyapong, and that’s why she’s going around campaigning for him. So, I get perplexed when she constantly can’t tell what her candidate seeks to do, but has to always rope in Dr. Bawumia’s name and smear him with outrageous propaganda.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed Naa Toshie as the District Assemblies Common Fund Administrator; Bawumia did not appoint you. So, it baffles me to see you say the Finance Ministry was owing common funds and you went to Dr. Bawumia to cry for him to intervene, but he did nothing,” Akaneweo Kabiru Abdul wrote.
Naa Torshie Addo has come under criticism for her comments against Dr Bawumia in support of Kennedy Agyapong.

Naa Toshie was appointed by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the District Assemblies Common Fund Administrator; you were not appointed by Bawumia. So, it baffles me to see you say the Finance Ministry owed common funds and you went to Dr. Bawumia to cry for him to intervene, but he did nothing.
Are we being serious? You had the President who appointed you, and in fact, you were close to President Akufo-Addo. Why didn’t you go to him but rather to Bawumia as Vice President? What were you expecting him to do? You can campaign for your candidate without being this untruthful.
Naa Toshie is not honest. Meanwhile, in somewhere 2024, Dr. Mohammed Amin Anta, then Finance Minister, wrote a letter to the DACF Administrator, Irene Naa Torshie Addo-Lartey, expressing deep concern that funds meant for the District Assemblies had not been transferred.
The Finance Ministry noted that despite a request made in December 2023 to transfer GH¢181,837,022.00, the money had still not hit the accounts of the beneficiaries by February 2024.
At the time when the DCEs and MCEs needed these funds to speed up projects in their constituencies in an election year, you sat on the money and released it late. So, where from this nonstarter argument of going to beg Dr. Bawumia?
What makes this even more disturbing is the deliberate attempt to twist a clear administrative lapse into a political attack on Dr. Bawumia. If truly you had the welfare of the assemblies at heart, you would have ensured timely disbursement instead of playing politics with development funds.
And this is where your narrative completely collapses. How do you hold back statutory funds for months, create needless pressure on local governments, and then turn around to claim you were at the mercy of the Vice President? It is this kind of insincerity that weakens institutions and breeds unnecessary tension within the party.
If you want to support your candidate, do so with honesty and clarity. But don’t drag Bawumia into matters that were clearly under your control and your mandate. Intra-party politics should not be a refuge for falsehood.
