Naana Opoku-Agyemang urges ABSA Bank to boost support for women in agribusiness

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called on financial institutions to intensify support for women-led enterprises, particularly in agribusiness and agro-processing. She made the remarks following a meeting with representatives from ABSA Bank Ghana.
“I held a meeting with representatives from ABSA Bank Ghana. They shared updates on their interest in inclusivity, SME development, agribusiness, and support for women-led enterprises,” the Vice President said.
She expressed appreciation for the bank’s focus on women in agribusiness and urged them to broaden their support. “I welcomed the team and thanked them for their deliberate focus on women in agribusiness. I encouraged them to extend even more support to women who are engaged in agro-processing, such as those producing oils in our communities. Targeted support will help them modernize their operations, work with dignity, and build confidence,” she noted.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang also highlighted the importance of empowering the youth and encouraging women to participate in decision-making. “I further emphasized the importance of extending support to the youth. As we continue addressing national priorities, I urged the women present to make their voices heard boldly in decision-making spaces,” she said.
She concluded by stressing the need for continued collaboration with financial institutions to foster inclusive economic growth. “We look forward to strengthening our collaboration with our financial institutions as we work together to expand opportunity, empower enterprises, and build an inclusive and resilient economy,” the Vice President added.
