Nana Adwoa Gyemfua III details ordeal in alleged dawn abduction

The Queen Mother of the Kwahu Traditional Council, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua III, has given a detailed account of her alleged abduction during a dawn raid at the Kwahu Palace on Monday, November 17, 2025, insisting that the incident was orchestrated by the destooled chief, Eugene Kwasi Boadi Asante, formerly known as Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II.

Speaking to the media after her release on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Queen Mother recounted how she and her driver were confronted by individuals she believes were acting on behalf of the former chief. “He and his driver attempted to collect our car, but we refused. I knew Boadi was involved,” she said.

She described how the confrontation escalated. “Kwasi Boadi’s driver wanted to take the car keys from me, but I refused. So they deflated the tyres of the vehicle to prevent us from moving out. They ransacked the vehicle, and I still don’t understand why,” she told journalists.

According to her, after being forcibly picked up, she requested access to the palace to retrieve her medication and personal belongings, but her plea was rejected.

“When we got to the palace junction, they told me they were calling the police officer who led the team for me to speak with because I needed to access the palace to take my drugs and keys, but he declined my request,” she narrated.

She said she attempted to seek intervention from another traditional authority but was still obstructed. “I called Nana Achemfour to narrate the incident to him, but the officers still did not allow me to go for my keys,” she said.

Recounting the hours she spent in detention, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua III revealed that she had been unable to access clean clothing until her family intervened.

“The dress I am wearing now is the one my child bought for me the previous night, because the clothes I was picked up in were very dirty. My child asked someone to get me another one,” she explained.

She added that another detainee, the destooled chief himself, appeared in an alarming state while she was giving her statement.

“Before I completed my statement, I saw Daasebre coming barefoot, wearing just a singlet. He had been restrained so roughly that the shorts he was wearing were torn from behind.

“I asked him why he was barefoot and without a shirt, and he explained that the police had taken them. I accepted his response, but we kept waiting for someone to come forward and say something, yet no one did,” she said.

The Queen Mother was later released on the orders of the Inspector-General of Police, who has directed an investigation into the incident. Authorities are yet to provide further updates.
