Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B and currently serving as the National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), found himself at the receiving end of a humiliating episode at the party’s just-ended National Delegates Conference.
In scenes that left many delegates and social media users shocked, Nana B was openly disrespected and shouted down by a group of muscular party operatives commonly referred to as “machomen”believed to be aligned with rival internal factions.
Videos making round online shows Nana B attempted to assert control over certain organizational matters during the conference, but was abruptly confronted and told off by the aggressive group.
“Forget him..forget him..” one of the macho men said in Hausa language.
Struggling to contain his anger, Nana B was later seen pacing and ranting to close allies about the incident, lamenting the growing lack of respect for his position. “
“You see the disrespect he is showing me?..” he fumed. According to an aide who overheard the exchange, Nana B is heavily unpopular within the party at the moment and could lose whatever position he contests.
The incident comes at a time when Nana B’s general influence within the party appears to be waning.
His conspicuous absence during the Ablekuma North by-election, where grassroots mobilization was critical, did not go unnoticed. Several party insiders now question his relevance, with some calling for a complete overhaul of the party’s leadership structure ahead of the crucial 2026 internal elections.
Once seen as a rising star and loyal foot soldier of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition, Nana B’s fall from grace is now being discussed in hushed tones across the rank and file of the party.
