NAPO Hasn’t Resigned As Running Mate – Spokesperson Debunks Claims

As the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has not resigned.
In Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, the former Energy Minister, was formally introduced as the Running Mate.
After being unveiled, NAPO has been meeting with traditional leaders and is about to start a national campaign trip to ask Ghanaians to cast their ballots.

But according to a press release that went viral on social media, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh resigned as Running Mate and forwarded a resignation letter, presumably as a result of his embarrassing public remark against Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president.
However, Fiifi Boafo, the spokesperson for Dr. Opoku Prempeh, has denied the allegations.
“It is rather his job as Energy Minister that he has resigned from but it is never true that he has stepped down as a Running Mate,” he said in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show.
