Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as “NAPO,” has officially declared that he will be the running mate for the New Patriotic Party, according to STC Chief Executive Officer Nana Akomea.
As soon as the Vice President gave the Minister’s name to President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the public learned that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh had been selected to run with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the elections scheduled for December 7.
Although it is reported that President Nana Addo has approved the candidate, an official announcement cannot be made until the National Council provides its approval.
When asked if he is positive that NAPO will be the running mate, Nana Akomea, the deputy chairman of the Bawumia campaign team, responded in the affirmative to Kwami Sefa Kayi’s question during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show.
He said that the party will discuss Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s selection at a meeting of the National Executives and National Council on Thursday, July 2, 2024.
He was, nevertheless, upbeat and unwaveringly confident that not much will be done to overturn Dr. Bawumia’s decision.
