National leaders gather for burial of Nana Konadu Yiadom III

The burial rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, drew some of Ghana’s most prominent political figures and dignitaries to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
On September 18, 2025, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former MP for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong, Movement for Change founder Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, and New Force founder Nana Kwame Bediako joined Asanteman to pay their respects. Each arrived with their delegations, made donations, and paid homage to the Asantehene.
Their presence was complemented by President John Dramani Mahama, former Presidents Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor, as well as international guests including Eswatini’s Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and Deputy Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla.

Also in attendance were Former Second Lady Samira Bawumia, former First Lady Nana Agyemang Konadu Rawlings, Inspector-General of Police Christian Yohunu, and Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiamah.
The burial rites, which began on September 15, will conclude with the late Queen Mother’s interment at the royal mausoleum at Breman Abusuakruwa.
As part of the final day’s proceedings, a restriction on outdoor movement was announced from 7 p.m. on September 18 to allow for the solemn burial.
