Unlike the New Patriotic Party, which is handpicking a candidate for the Akwatia Constituency, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a date for parliamentary primaries.
According to a timetable released by the political party, nominations will be opened on July 28, 2025 to allow for persons willing to contest to pick forms and contest for the position.
Nominations are expected to close on July 30, 2025, after which vetting will take place on July 31, 2025.
The party’s primaries will take place on August 4, 2025, after which the party will begin its campaign activities towards the elections slated for September 2025.
The Akwatia By-Election was made possible after the sitting Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi, died six months after he was voted into office.
