NDC can’t secure 5 prosecutions before 2028 – Lawyer Agyei Baffour Awuah

Lawyer Agyei Baffour Awuah, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has declared that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not be able to secure even five successful prosecutions against members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) before the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on Agya Pa TV’s Atwene Show with host El Lizato which was monitored by MyNewsGh, the outspoken MP described the NDC’s much-hyped “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL) and recent charges filed against some former NPP officials as “mere political propaganda meant to excite party followers.”
“The NDC cannot make five successful prosecutions before the next elections in 2028,” Lawyer Awuah asserted confidently.
“They can make noise about ORAL and threaten prosecutions all they want, but these things are just for political optics.”
When host El Lizato interjected, recalling that President John Mahama had vowed to “pack the judiciary with pro-NDC judges” to fast-track cases against alleged corrupt NPP officials, the Manhyia South MP was quick to dismiss that assertion.
“That won’t happen,” he responded firmly.
“You can’t just wake up and say you’ll pack the courts with your people. It doesn’t work like that.
“Even when the NPP was in power, not everyone who supported us was given an appointment.”
He added that the notion of political court-packing should be discarded entirely.
“Not all members of a party who sacrificed for victory get rewarded with positions,” Awuah clarified.
“Some continue to support the government’s agenda in other discreet but meaningful ways. Governance doesn’t mean replacing every institution with party loyalists.”
