NDC will protect supporters in Akwatia by-election

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful by-election in Akwatia while cautioning that the NDC will not sit back if its supporters are attacked or intimidated.
“The conversation we are having was to the extent that at no point will the NDC encourage any of our supporters.
“Violence will not be part of the election but just in case anybody foments violence, we will not watch for members to be victims,” he said in an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News.
Gbande stressed that the NDC will not instigate violence but will be firm in protecting its members and safeguarding the integrity of the polls.
“We will descend, protect any single member of the NDC that will participate in this election. We will protect the vote… that is what my statement means,” he emphasized.
