NDC’s goodwill increasing rapidly, NPP’s declining – Dr. Asah-Asante

Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante has said the outcome of the Akwatia by-election is a clear indication that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is enjoying rising goodwill among voters.

The Political Scientist and Head of the Centre for European Studies at the University of Ghana noted that the by-election provided a crucial test for both the NDC and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“This election was hinged on two tests. The test of resilience of the NPP and the test of declining goodwill of the NDC.

“And you saw that NDC goodwill is increasing with amazing rapidity. But that of NPP is declining,” he observed in an interview on JoyNews’ AM Show.

According to him, the results should serve as a wake-up call for the NPP to urgently address internal issues if the party is to remain competitive in future contests.

“It gives them homework that they need to put their house in order to be able to fight and fight head on,” Dr. Asah-Asante stressed.
