Nigerian actor and content creator Odira Nwobu has died, confirmed Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), to BBC Igbo.
“It is true that Odira Nwobu is dead. He died in South Africa,” Rollas said.
Reports indicate Nwobu had traveled to South Africa for a performance with comedian Chibuike Gabriel, popularly known as Untouchable.
Fellow actor Ajemba Stanley Chibueze, nicknamed Stanley Ontop, stated that Nwobu returned to his hotel on Sunday morning after a night out and suffered a hypertensive episode related to high blood pressure, passing away shortly afterward.
A video circulating online shows Nwobu enjoying himself at a nightclub hours before the incident, prompting shock among fans who noted no visible signs of distress.
Nwobu’s death follows months after he survived a serious car accident earlier in 2025.
