Nigerians are claiming highlife because Ghanaians don’t cherish it – Ben Brainy

Music analyst Ben Brainy has expressed concern over Nigeria’s growing claim to highlife music, attributing it to Ghana’s lack of appreciation for the genre.
According to him, Ghanaians have failed to uphold and promote highlife, allowing Nigerians to adopt and integrate it into their music scene.
Speaking in a recent discussion, Ben Brainy emphasized that highlife originated from Ghana and should be preserved as a national treasure.
He urged Ghanaian artists to embrace the genre rather than abandon it for trending sounds.
“Nigerians are claiming highlife because we don’t cherish it. If we valued it, they wouldn’t have the chance,” he stated.
His comments have sparked debate among music lovers, with many calling for renewed efforts to revive and promote authentic Ghanaian highlife music.
