No country can fight it alone

The Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Raymond Archer, has renewed calls for deeper regional and international cooperation in tackling transnational organised crime, stressing that no country can fight it alone.
Speaking during a visit by a delegation from the Malawi Defence Force Command and Staff College, Mr. Archer said EOCO’s success depends on collaboration built on “shared value, trust, and joint intelligence.”
The 16-member team, led by Col. Alfred Luciano Matambo and Brig. Gen. Crispin Phiri, included participants from Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, and Kenya.
Their visit aimed to strengthen partnerships and explore knowledge exchange opportunities in governance and crime prevention.
Mr. Archer highlighted EOCO’s long-standing partnerships with major international crime agencies, including the FBI (USA), the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). These collaborations, he noted, have been instrumental in addressing cross-border financial and economic crimes.
“EOCO remains focused on dismantling criminal syndicates that threaten lives and national economies.
2We are open to sharing experience and expertise with all stakeholders committed to this fight,” he affirmed.
Also present at the meeting were EOCO officials CSO Aba Jacqueline Opoku, Mr. Benjamin Ndego, and PSO Elizabeth Buckman.
