No flagbearer is serious about corruption if Ken Ofori-Atta is untouchable — Franklin Cudjoe

Franklin Cudjoe has questioned the continued silence surrounding the corruption allegations against former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, drawing attention to the lack of accountability in the ongoing investigations.

In a Facebook post, the IMANI Africa president referenced the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s earlier claims about Ofori-Atta’s conduct and challenged political leaders to ensure he faces questioning.

“The OSP told us the man was playing games with us. We didn’t believe him. Please, can any of the NPP flagbearer aspirants convince him to answer for his role in multiple corruption allegations?” he wrote.

Ofori-Atta is the subject of several corruption and procurement-related investigations initiated by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

These include the controversial financing of the National Cathedral project, which received significant state funding despite construction delays, and concerns over revenue assurance contracts with private companies in the petroleum and mineral sectors.

Additional probes involve the procurement and distribution of ambulances under the Health Ministry and the management of tax refund accounts at the Ghana Revenue Authority, all of which have raised questions about transparency and oversight during his tenure.

Tensions between Ofori-Atta and the OSP escalated earlier this year when he failed to honour multiple invitations for questioning.

The OSP described his behaviour as evasive and in February 2025 declared him a fugitive after he did not appear as scheduled. His legal team cited health reasons and requested extensions, which were denied.

A temporary agreement for his voluntary return was later reached, leading to the withdrawal of the fugitive notice, but after he missed the agreed return date, the OSP reinstated the wanted status and requested Interpol’s assistance to secure his appearance.
