No politician knows Afenyo-Markin more than I do

Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Boamah has addressed speculation surrounding his relationship with Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, describing the rumours as unfounded and “strange.”
Speaking on Asempa FM monitored by MyNewsGh, Mr. Boamah said it was important to correct misconceptions being circulated about his loyalty to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and his rapport with Afenyo-Markin.
According to him, their relationship remains solid. “I have a very good rapport and relationship with Afenyo-Markin, which is undeniable,” he stated, adding that he finds it surprising that “some people are trying to pit us against each other.”
He firmly rejected claims of any tension between them, insisting that no one understands Afenyo-Markin better than he does.
“No politician in Ghana knows Afenyo-Markin more than I do,” he said, dismissing suggestions that a rift had emerged.
His comments follow public reactions to his calm stance during the recent walkout led by Afenyo-Markin over the vetting of Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, who has since been approved as Chief Justice.
While many MPs joined the walkout, Boamah did not, sparking assumptions of disagreement. He clarified that his decision had nothing to do with disloyalty and should not be interpreted as such.
Mr. Boamah also stressed his long-standing commitment to the party, saying, “I started following the party in the early ’90s and I won’t compromise now.”
He emphasised the need for the NPP to develop youthful and energetic leadership to take on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 elections.
“It’s essential for the NPP to build young, vibrant new leaders to wrestle power from the NDC in 2028, and I represent that collective objective,” he added.
