No proof of shoulder dislocation in Ridge Hospital assault – Committee

The report about the assault case at Ridge Hospital has found no medical evidence to support claims that Rejoice Tsotso Bortei, a rotation nurse at the facility, suffered a shoulder dislocation during the incident.
The findings were presented on Wednesday, August 27, by Dr. Lawrence Ofori-Boadu, Chairman of the committee set up by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh to investigate the matter.
According to the report, the nurse reported her injuries a day after the altercation on August 18, but medical records revealed no signs of a fracture in her left wrist or dislocation in her right shoulder.
Rejoice was, however, treated, given pain relief medication, advised to rest, and placed under psychological support care following the incident.
The findings contradict the nurse’s earlier claims, which drew widespread attention after a viral video showed relatives of a patient clashing with hospital staff at the emergency department, sparking public outrage and concerns over the safety of health workers.
Meanwhile, Rejoice Tsotso Bortei has filed a GHC 7 million civil lawsuit against social media personality Ralph Saint Williams, popularly known as “Ralph De Fellow Ghanaian”, over alleged physical assault and defamation connected to the same incident.
