No room for bribery – MDF boss rejects plea for arrested illegal miners

Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF), Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw-Kotei, has firmly rejected attempts by an unnamed individual to intervene on behalf of arrested illegal miners, stating that no amount of influence or bribery will stop the law from taking its course.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Bissiw-Kotei revealed that she was recently approached by a person who attempted to use personal history and connections to secure the release of the offenders.

“The person gave me a long history about how far back we go and wanted to see if the arrested individuals could be released.

“But I made it clear that it would not be possible. They have caused destruction and must face the consequences,” she disclosed.

She noted that the individual tried multiple means of getting through to her before finally placing a direct call, pleading for leniency and even offering to accept any conditions set by her office. However, Dr. Bissiw-Kotei maintained a strong stance.

“He tried everything possible, but it didn’t work, so he finally mustered the courage to call me.

“He said they are willing to accept any conditions we give. But they must face the full rigours of the law, because bribery will not work at the Minerals Development Fund,” she stated.

Dr. Bissiw-Kotei emphasized that the MDF remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.
