NPP confirms July 19 Conference despite postponement calls

Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu, has confirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will go ahead with its National Delegates Conference on Saturday, July 19, 2025, despite internal calls for a postponement.

“There was a petition that the date for the conference should be changed. Our NEC, after considering it, decided that we should continue.

Given the preparation and commitments that we have made, the conference will proceed as announced,” Osei-Owusu told journalists during a media briefing following a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council.

The petition, raised by some members within the party, cited a need for more time to resolve internal tensions and align key processes before the leadership vote. However, the party’s leadership believes the momentum and groundwork laid for the event leave little room for rescheduling.

The July 19 conference is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the NPP’s leadership and strategy ahead of their 2026 elections, with flagbearer hopefuls and regional executives all expected to be in attendance.
