NPP Flagbearer who Influences who becomes party Executive Isn’t Serious About 2028 Victory

General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua, holds the view that the winner of the 2026 presidential primaries in the political party will not hand-pick people he/she want to lead the party.
According to him, if the flagbearer of the party influences such decisions, then he/she is not ready to lead the party to victory in the 2028 elections.
“If you want to win the 2028 election, you will need everyone on board. You won’t handpick people you want to work with and relegate others. The others who are relegated also have supporters who will also not support the party so I don’t think anyone who gets the nod to lead the NPP will do that.
As General Secretary, I should oppose this approach, but I am looking at the bigger picture for the political party because we may have a flagbearer who might not want to work with me and will manipulate the system to favour his favourite but I think this is in the best interest of the party. Currently, the NDC government is involved in a number of ills, but we cannot take them on because our backyard is not peaceful. People are interested in who leads the NPP and will not focus on what the governent is doing wrong,” he said.
He continued, “Our focus as a political party is currently difficult. However, after January 31, 2026, our communications will change because by then, we will have a leader and that will help make our communications stronger”.
Justin Kodua debunked the assertion that the decision for early polls by the party is to favour one particular candidate at the expense of the others who have declared their intentions to lead the political party.
Kodua used the opportunity to urge national and regional officers of the party to stay far away from the ongoing contest because if their favourite candidate does not win, it will not help the politica party.
