NPP holds its National Delegates Conference today

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today hold its annual National Delegates Conference.

This will be the first after the party lost power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after the 2024 elections.

This National Delegates Conference will be different as the party has several amendments to be discussed and voted on as the party works very hard to revitalize its base for success in the 2028 elections.

Under the theme “Rebuilding together with our core values,” the party hopes to unite its base, ensuring that their values of togetherness, unity, among others, are met before the event ends on Saturday, July 19.

In all, about 50 proposed amendments are on the cards to reshape the party to make it stronger and more resilient for the future.

Prior to this day, there was a suit by two members of the political party who are said to be against the decision to hold a National Delegates Conference.

However, one of the plaintiffs, Shamsudeen Iddrisu denied knowledge of the suit, insisting that he respects party decisions and has not filed any suit against the organization of the National Delegates Conference.

Meanwhile, the party’s communications director, Richard Ahiagbah, has also mentioned that the political party is yet to be served, although per the documents available online, the hearing of the case will be on July 24, 2025.

The New Patriotic Party is expecting over 6000 delegates across the country at the University of Ghana Stadium, who will vote on several amendments in the party’s constitution, including an expunction of Article 13 (1) (9) from the constitution to abolish the Special Electoral College in the election of the party’s presidential candidate.
