NPP-NDC Dominance Will End Within 20 Years—Martin Kpebu Predicts

Private Legal Practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has projected that Ghana’s long-standing two-party dominance between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be broken within the next two decades.
According to Mr. Kpebu, the country’s political landscape is gradually evolving, and voter fatigue with the traditional parties could pave the way for new political movements to gain significant traction.
Speaking on Accra-based TV3, he stated, “The NPP-NDC duopoly will be broken within the next 20 years. Ghanaians are getting more discerning, and the appetite for an alternative is growing.”
Mr. Kpebu further mentioned that Alan Kyerematen, founder and leader of the United Party (UP), has the potential to make major political inroads in the 2028 general elections.
“Alan will put up a good show in 2028. He may not win outright, but he will shake the system and open the door for other credible alternatives in future elections,” he predicted.
The lawyer’s comments come amid ongoing public discourse about the need for political diversity and the performance of third forces in Ghana’s democratic journey.
