Two men missing after Offin River canoe accident

Two men remain missing after a canoe capsized on the Offin River near Achiase in the Atwima Mponua District on Thursday.
According to local committee member Daniel Adu, the mishap occurred around 8 a.m. when the inexperienced paddler lost control. “All six fell into the river.
“We managed to rescue four, but we are still searching for the other two, who are adult males,” he told Asaase News.
NADMO officials briefly joined the rescue before suspending efforts until Friday, while traditional leaders performed rituals at the riverbank. Adu noted this was not the first tragedy at the spot, recalling a 2021 incident in which four people drowned, with one body never recovered.
