NPP sacks 16 executives in Upper East over betrayal

New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana’s Upper East Region has sanctioned 16 of its members from the Tempane and Pusiga constituencies over acts of gross misconduct and anti-party behaviour during and after the 2024 elections.

The affected members, including some key constituency executives, were found guilty by the Regional Disciplinary Committee following hearings in March 2025.

Their offenses ranged from financial misconduct and sabotage to openly campaigning against NPP candidates.

While five individuals were cleared of wrongdoing, the rest have been slapped with heavy sanctions, including removal from office and bans from holding party positions for up to five years.

Among them is Tempane’s 1st Vice Chairman, Musah Awudu, and Constituency Treasurer, Jacob Akazusah, who was found guilty of mishandling party funds.

Party officials say the sanctions, guided by Article 4 of the NPP constitution, are aimed at restoring discipline and rebuilding internal trust ahead of future political contests.
