NPP sets GHC 600k fee for 2028 flagbearer race

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for its 2028 presidential primary, announcing a total cost of GH¢600,000 for any member hoping to contest as the party’s flagbearer.

Per a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, nomination forms are available starting Tuesday, July 29, 2025, and submissions will close on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Aspiring candidates must first secure the forms at a cost of GH¢100,000, payable via Bankers Draft to the NPP Headquarters in Accra.

Once the forms are obtained, a filing fee of GH¢500,000 is required—also non-refundable and payable to the party’s national office.

Beyond these two payments, candidates are expected to contribute an additional Development Fee, though the specific amount is yet to be disclosed. This fee will be determined by the NPP’s National Council.

The party is set to elect its 2028 presidential candidate at a national congress scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
