NPP thrived on misinformation in Ashanti region but that was blocked in 2024

Asiedu Nketia, the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has explained that in 2024, the NDC recognised that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had thrived on misinformation in the Ashanti Region.
According to him, this was achieved by controlling the airwaves and ensuring that pro-NDC radio stations were sidelined and closed down.
In 2024, he indicated that the NDC blocked the misinformation by the New Patriotic Party, hence the reason behind their success in the region.
He mentioned that they took over the airwaves in the region and also charted paths in the Ashanti region, which hitherto the NDC would have ignored because it was the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party.
General Mosquito, as he is popularly called, indicated that going forward, the NDC will take the bold step of campaigning strongly in the Ashanti region and is sure that they can annex some seats in that region because, to him, the politics of strongholds is gradually fading away from Ghana’s politics.
“What I saw in the Ashanti region is that the NPP thrived on misinformation, and so most of the radio stations in the region which defended the NDC were dealt with in the region. All the stations were pushing the NPP agenda.
They were using history and misinformation in the Ashanti Region, but this year, we collapsed that, and it did not work for them,” he disclosed while speaking to Ambassador TV.
