The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today, July 29, 2025, open nominations for persons interested in contesting for the flagbearer position in the country to pick up their forms.
Per the party’s timetable, picking of the nomination forms will end on 28th August, 2025.
So far, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Yaw Adutwum, Dr Bryan Acheampong have openly declared their intentions to contest for the position.
However, persons like Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Boakye Agyarko, among others, have shown signs of wanting to contest for the position to lead the opposition political party into the 2028 election.
MyNewsGh.com is learning that aspirants will be expected to cough out Ghc 500,000 for the forms, as the party believes whoever wants to lead should be able to raise funds to support the political party and their campaign.
The party is expected to go to the polls on January 31, 2026. The early primaries is to help bring down the tension in the political party and help unify their ranks early before the 2028 elections.
They also believe that having a flagbearer early will help the NPP put the government on its toes.
