NPP’s Election Committee Insist there will be no proxy voting in Presidential primaries

The Election Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) insists that there will not be voting by proxy in the 2026 flagbearership election.

According to the Chairman of the Committee, Joe Osei Owusu, the committee has read petitions and positions expressed by party folks; however, they insist on their earlier position.

Addressing the press on November 20, 2025, he explained that the decision was reached to protect the integrity of the election.

Speaking to TV3, Arthur Kennedy, who is a leading member of the party, indicated that something could have been done to prevent the current decision.

He explained that there is more time for further engagement, indicating that the decision could change.

“I don’t know if debates make much of the contest. It is too early. A lot of things are far away. I haven’t gotten excited yet. Whoever is voted by the NPP will have a credibility problem because of the process,” he said.
