The flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will meet with the National Council (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) today, July 4, to select his running mate for the general elections on December 7.
The gathering will be in the Asante Hall of the Accra-based Alisa Hotel.
The running mate nomination of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, widely known as NAPO, who is the Energy Minister and Manhyia South MP, is anticipated to be discussed and approved by the party during the meeting.
Reactions to NAPO’s nomination have been conflicting, both inside and beyond the NPP.
Although some believe he will work well with Dr. Bawumia, there have also been many who oppose him.
