Ntim Fordjour’s allegations are baseless – Adu Asare

Former Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency, Kojo Adu Asare, has dismissed claims by Rev. Ntim Fordjour that drug trafficking has increased under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, calling them “wild allegations” without evidence.
“I am shocked that the president even took him seriously,” Adu Asare said. “To the extent that government agencies have to waste resources on such a fluke issue is beyond me.
“He is a Member of Parliament, not a security expert. If we start responding to every minority MP who calls a press conference, we will never get work done,” he said on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana monitored by MyNewsGH.
He criticized Rev. Fordjour for failing to provide any proof to support his claims. “I took time to listen to him, and he did not produce a shred of evidence. Instead, he is calling for the government to waste resources based on mere suspicion. Where is the proof?”
Adu Asare further accused the opposition of attempting to tarnish the reputation of the NDC with unfounded accusations.
“They are trying to equalize, but it won’t work. We have been in government for just a few months, yet we have already made major drug busts. Compare that to their eight years in power, and you will see the difference. If there was drug trafficking before, why are they pretending this is new?”
He urged Rev. Fordjour to be truthful and responsible with his statements. “A Reverend Minister should know better. If you allege something, you must prove it. Suspicion is not evidence. The president should have ignored this hot air instead of entertaining it.”
The former legislator also addressed concerns raised by the opposition regarding alleged gold smuggling, noting that such matters deserve scrutiny. “That is a legitimate issue. When it happened, there was a swoop, and the media covered it extensively. The people deserve to know what has come of it, who is responsible, and what actions have been taken.”
Adu Asare warned against the spread of baseless accusations, urging the opposition to focus on facts rather than speculation. “We are a serious government. We are here to work, not to play politics with wild claims. If they allowed their party to rot with scandals, we will not do the same. Ghanaians deserve better.”
