Nutritionists urge Ghanaians to eat more ‘Gobe’ to prevent heart diseases

Nutritionists are urging Ghanaians to increase consumption of beans-based meals, including ‘Gobe’ (gari and beans), to help prevent heart diseases, obesity, and cancer.

Speaking at the World Pulses Day event in Accra, nutritionist Wise Chukudi Letsa stressed the health benefits of beans, highlighting its rich protein, fiber, and essential nutrients.

The event, organized by the Communications Initiative for Change (CIC), promoted the ‘Meatless Monday’ initiative, urging Ghanaians to reduce meat intake and adopt beans-based meals at least once a week.

Experts also recommended traditional dishes like Waakye, Kose, and Aboboi as healthy alternatives.
